Alumni Update 2020-2021

Happy New Year 2021 Everyone!

  1. Unfortunately our Annual City Drinks Event due for January 2021 has had to be postponed due to the current situation in Bangkok. This is a real pity because we always enjoy seeing you at our events and very much look forward to them as it’s our chance to catchup with you all in person.

At the end of 2020, we had 2 events that brought several alumni together.

The annual Alumni Football Tournament 2020 postponed from June finally occurred on the Shrewsbury International School Riverside campus attracted a wide variety of cohorts both playing and also watching. The atmosphere was lovely! There were teams from SHB20, SHB19, SHB18, SHB17 and a veteran team consisting of SHB09,10,11,12. The eventual winners were SHB17 with captains Pip & Mon lifting the trophy in delight.

In 3rd place taking home the bronze medals were SHB19 captained by Earth.C and Win.I, In 2nd place with the silver medals were SHB20 captained by the recently graduated Matthew Wilkins who got to the final via a penalty shootout thanks to an excellent save by goalkeeper Zack and the goal of the tournament came in the final by Namdev but the champions with the gold medals and SISBAA trophy were by a well deserved SHB17 team.

A big thanks to the director of football Simon Murgatroyd for helping to organize the event along with the Alumni Association. The next tournament will be held in July 2021.

The other event in December 2020 was the SHB15 5 Year Reunion Event also delayed from July. It was a really nice evening and decent turnout at the Marriot Hotel in the Sukhumvit area of downtown Bangkok. It was so nice to see so many familiar faces whom most of which are now back working in Thailand after graduating from universities in the UK & US.

Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more updates.

SHREWSBURY CLASS OF 2008 10 YEAR REUNION

On Saturday 14th July 2018, Shrewsbury International School Bangkok had their first ever 10 Year Reunion for the Graduating Class of 2008 (SHB08).

A very special thank you to Gib for helping to organize this event which involved constant line chat and phone calls with P’Stu. It was an enjoyable event where a boat collected about 25-30 Alumni and special guest Mr. Stu Flavell for a cruise up and down the Chao Phraya river for 3 hours.

There was plenty of food, drink, karaoke and also the England vs Belgium World Cup game on display.

It was nice to see everybody catch up and reminisce with each other especially as some of our Alumni are already married, Mei is a Mom and another Mill is pregnant. (Lookout EY1 SHB21 etc!)

We now look forward to SHB09 10 Year reunion next year!

“I’m really enjoying it here, there’s plenty to do despite restrictions. The biggest difference is the lack of time difference which helps A LOT!
