Merck (2nd from Left)

What does Shrewsbury mean to me? It is a place for learning, opportunity, and an extended family and community. Words alone may fail to reflect the magnitude of importance in which the school means to me. Although known for its academic prowess, the correct blend of activities and opportunities away from class is what has made my time at Shrewsbury truly memorable. It is during times, in sports, Duke of Edinburgh award, school events or charity events, that these experiences have not only forged lasting friendships but also shaped me into who I am today. Sharing my experiences at school to my friends at university confirms to me how fortunate I was to have attended Shrewsbury.-Merck Paisalachpong (’13)

Vegas in DTWhen I entered college, I found myself in a sea of valedictorians, Olympians and the average genius. And I felt lost. Time and time again, I keep coming back to the social memories created and strengthened during my time at Shrewsbury. Be it the infectious sense of humour local to us or the tightness of our community, all the factors play an emphatic role in helping me define what I conceive of as my self and identity, then draws a line to what constitutes the other. But these aren’t dichotomous existences that force me to shy away from the other, instead, they help me negotiate through the differences and allow me to maintain my identity whilst keeping an open eye towards new experiences. For me, this is clearly illustrated in the school’s motto, ‘if the heart is right, all will be well’. Shrewsbury has gone beyond its ends of academic preparation because it has cultured a distinct interior equipped for the contemporary world, an end which only exceptional schools concern about.-Patsakorn Lertprasertkul

Pat R quote

Shrewsbury is a big part of my life.As time goes by without realizing, I started to feel like I have become part of the community, friends and teachers eventually turn into family. I would proudly say that shrewsbury had gave me countless experiences both inside and outside curricular. During my time at shrewsbury I received an opportunity to do things that I never thought of doing before. Last but not least I would say with pride that I graduated from Shrewsbury. From a girl who hates going to school I never imagined myself missing it this much.-Patchamon Rattanaprukskul (Pat)

Bung (Left)

Bung quoteLooking back at the time spent in Shrewsbury, I realise that I have managed to gain various important talents and team playing skills. The experience in Shrewsbury cannot be compared to any other places. It has given me plenty of opportunities from sports down to musical, giving me an eye opener to the various forms of activities outside the academic prospect. With the skills I have picked up, I am fully able to pull through my university with ease. Not only does Shrewsbury teach me life skills but also gave me a sense of family that I will never be able to forget. Napassorn Asavasangsidhi (Bung)

Kare (Front Right)

Kare quote

I entered Shrewsbury International School as a shy, quiet ten-year-old who could hardly utter a word of English. Little did I know, I graduated Sixth Form with grades which I thought were impossible, priceless experiences, and friends who I know will still be there when I turn 80. In hindsight, I can confidently say that Shrewsbury’s tight and supportive community of students and staff were the ones who gently nudged me out of my comfort zone and into discovering my passion for theatre and the arts. They gave me safe space to explore whilst retaining that much-needed pressure to succeed. I didn’t realise how much Shrewsbury has shaped me, both in and out of classrooms until I left for university. My time there didn’t only aid my growth into finding my passion, it has also taught me to have a voice and not let anyone look down on because of my gender, race, age, or even my midget-height. Press (Centre Left)

Press quote

I never expected that life after leaving SHB would be so different. It was as if I had stepped into another world where I am expected to be somebody different. My time at SHB was when it was okay to make mistakes, it was okay to embarrass yourself with incorrect grammar, it was okay to get excited over little things like pizza parties at lunch time. These things were embraced rather than used to judge you for who you are. And for this, along with the unforgettable memories, I am thankful and proud to be an SHB alumni.  Chanikan Tanasatitchai (Press.)

Sea quote

All I can say is Shrewsbury is like my second home, I visit and re-visit numerous times ever since I graduated in 2013 and I still feel the loving atmosphere. My time there is truly irreplaceable, this school gave me so much to remember particularly the life skills offered by the activities I got involved like being part of the Football and tennis team or even athletic team for Fobissea where not only I got chances to visit places for my competition and gain countless memorable experiences, I also made many new friends and formed great friendships. I am forever grateful for all the wonderful times and thankful for being part of the Shrewsbury community. Chalita Laowanichwith (Sea) class of 2013

Jenny quote 1

I never knew how much I would miss Shrewsbury when I left it. Shrewsbury provided me with such a warm, loving support group that I believe I will cherish for life. I met all my best friends there and met all the great teachers that got me through A-levels with their help and support. I am truly grateful for all the opportunities and memories Shrewsbury has given me as well as being able to spend both my middle school and high school there.-Janjira Darwin (Jenny) Class of 2014

May (Front)

May L quote

Shrewsbury is another family. Teachers are like parents who both teach and provide us with care. I can always feel the warmth and a home-like atmosphere at Shrewsbury. The circle of friends at Shrewsbury is a treasure- more than a word I can say. Shrewsbury gave me a whole lot of opportunities to develop myself and became a better well-rounded person. It was were I laughed, cried and screamed, all my best memories were made at Shrewsbury.-Kamolphan Lerdprapapong (May) Class of 2014

Yuki (Centre)

Yuki quote

Shrewsbury is a place where I know it’s okay to not be okay, to struggle, and to have problems, because I know there will always be someone to help me get through. I was surrounded by those who I can proudly call family. An encyclopedia set worth of memories that we will share as oldies sitting on rocking chairs together, whether it’s from the various house competitions, the IA expeditions or the Sixth Form lock-in. Six years ago, I did not know who these people were or that they existed, and neither did they know about me, but now they have become such a big part of me that I know will never fade away.-Varatchaya Kuansataporn (Yuki) Class of 2015
